1. Definitions

"Service" refers to the vehicle rental and related services offered by Steerwell. "User" or "Client" refers to any individual who makes a booking, enquiry, or uses a Steerwell rental vehicle. "We", "Us", "Our" refers to Steerwell, registered and operating from 18 Jalan Masjid India, 50100 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. "Vehicle" refers to any car or automobile made available for rental by Steerwell. "Agreement" refers to the rental contract signed at the time of vehicle handover.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By making a booking, submitting an enquiry through our website, or signing a rental agreement with Steerwell, you confirm that you accept these terms and conditions. You must be at least 21 years of age and hold a valid driving licence (Malaysian licence, or a foreign licence with an International Driving Permit) to rent a vehicle from us. By proceeding, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

3. Service Description

Steerwell provides vehicle rental services in Malaysia, including cross-border rentals for travel between Malaysia and Singapore, replacement vehicle services for clients whose cars are under repair, and self-drive touring packages. Service availability may vary depending on fleet capacity, booking demand, and regulatory requirements. Our services are primarily available within peninsular Malaysia.

4. User Responsibilities

As a renter, you agree to: operate the vehicle in a safe, lawful, and responsible manner at all times; comply with all Malaysian traffic laws and, where applicable, Singaporean road regulations; return the vehicle in the condition it was received, aside from normal wear; report any accidents, damage, or mechanical issues to Steerwell immediately; not permit any unauthorised drivers to operate the vehicle; not use the vehicle for illegal activities, racing, towing, or off-road driving; and return the vehicle with a fuel level similar to what it had at pickup.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on the Steerwell website — including text, images, logos, route guides, and design elements — is the property of Steerwell or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or modify any content without written permission. Route guides provided as part of our touring packages are for personal use during your rental period only.

6. Payment Terms

Rental rates are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and are payable at the time of booking or vehicle handover, as agreed. We accept payment by credit card, debit card, and bank transfer. A refundable security deposit may be required and will be returned within 7–14 working days after the vehicle is returned in satisfactory condition. Late returns may incur additional daily charges at the standard rate. Any traffic fines, tolls, or parking charges incurred during the rental period are the responsibility of the renter.

7. Cross-Border Rental Terms

For rentals involving travel to Singapore, the vehicle must only be driven within Singapore and Malaysia. Cross-border vehicles are subject to additional documentation requirements, which Steerwell will arrange. The renter is responsible for complying with all immigration and customs procedures at the border. Any fines, ERP charges, or parking fees incurred in Singapore are the renter's responsibility. The vehicle must re-enter Malaysia before the expiry of the Vehicle Entry Permit.

8. Insurance and Liability

All vehicles come with comprehensive insurance. In the event of an accident, the renter is responsible for the excess amount as stated in the rental agreement. Insurance coverage may be voided if the renter was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving recklessly, or using the vehicle outside the agreed terms. Steerwell is not liable for loss of personal belongings left in the vehicle, indirect or consequential losses arising from vehicle breakdowns or delays, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

9. Cancellation and Refunds

Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled pickup may receive a full refund of the rental fee, excluding any administrative charges. Cancellations within 48 hours of pickup may be subject to a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the booking value. No-shows forfeit the full booking amount. Refunds are processed within 14 working days to the original payment method.

10. Disclaimers

Our services are provided on an "as available" basis. While we make every effort to ensure vehicles are in good condition, we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or entirely free of mechanical issues. Route guides and accommodation suggestions are provided for informational purposes and do not constitute endorsements. Steerwell does not provide professional travel, legal, or financial advice.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law, Steerwell's total liability to any client shall not exceed the total rental fees paid for the specific rental in question. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. This limitation does not apply to liability arising from death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Steerwell, its directors, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your use of the vehicle, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any applicable law during the rental period.

13. Termination

Either party may terminate the rental agreement by providing notice. If we become aware that the vehicle is being misused or that these terms have been breached, we reserve the right to terminate the agreement and recover the vehicle immediately. Upon termination, any outstanding fees remain payable.

14. Dispute Resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to attempt resolution through informal discussion. If informal resolution is unsuccessful, the dispute shall be referred to the courts of Malaysia, with jurisdiction in Kuala Lumpur.

15. General Provisions

These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Steerwell regarding the use of our services. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right. We may assign our rights and obligations under these terms without prior notice.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We recommend reviewing this page from time to time.
